Genesis 4

  1.  Adam Knew his wife
    1. she conceived and bore Cain
    2. and said, “I have acquired a man from the Lord.”
  2. She bore again
    1. this time his brother Abel
    2. Now Abel was a keeper of sheep
    3. but Cain was a tiller of the ground.
  3. In the process of time it came
    1. Cain brought an offering of the fruit of the ground to the Lord.
  4. Able also
    1. brought of the firstborn of his flock and if there fat
    2. he Lord respected Abel and his offering
  5. Did not respect Cain and
    1. his offering
    2. Cain was very angry
    3. and loss confidence
  6. The Lord said to Cain
    1. “Why are you angry?
    2. why has your countenance fallen?
  7. If you do well
    1. will you not be accepted?
    2. if you do not do well, sin lies at the door.
    3. Sins desire is for you
    4. but you should rule over it.
  8. Cain talked to Able
    1. and it came to pass,
    2. when they were in the field,
    3. Cain rose up against Abel
    4. killed him.
  9. The Lord said to Cain
    1. Where is Abel your brother
    2. He said, “I do not know. Am I my brother’s keeper?”
  10. The Lord Said
    1. What have you done?
    2. your brother’s blood cries out to Me from the ground
  11. So now you are cursed
    1. cursed from the earth
    2. which has opened its mouth to receive your brother’s blood from your hand
  12. When you till the ground
    1. it shall no longer yield its strength to you
    2. A fugitive and a vagabond you shall be on the earth.”
  13. And Cain said to the Lord
    1. “My punishment is greater than I can bear!”
  14. Surely You have driven me out this day
    1. I shall be hidden from Your face;
    2. I shall be a fugitive and a vagabond on the earth
    3. and it will happen that anyone who finds me will kill me.”
  15. And the Lord said to him
    1. Therefore, whoever kills Cain, vengeance shall be taken on him sevenfold.”
    2. the Lord set a mark on Cain
    3. lest anyone finding him
  16. Then Cain went out from the presence of the Lord
    1. dwelt in the land of Nod on the east of Eden.
  17. And Cain knew his wife,
    1. she conceived and bore Enoch
    2. Cain built a city
    3. called the name of the city after the name of his son—Enoch
  18.  To Enoch was born Irad
    1. Irad begot Mehujael
    2. Mehujael begot Methushael
    3. Methushael begot Lamech
  19. Then Lamech took for himself two wives:
    1. name of one was Adah
    2. name of the second was Zillah
  20. And Adah bore Jaba
    1. He was the father of those who dwell in tents and have livestock
  21. His brother’s name was Jubal.
    1. father of all those who play the harp and flute
  22. And as for Zillah
    1. she also bore Tubal-Cain
    2. instructor of every craftsman in bronze and iron
    3. And the sister of Tubal-Cain was Naamah.
  23. Then Lamech said to his wives:
    1. Adah and Zillah, hear my voice
    2. For I have killed a man for wounding me
    3. Even a young man for hurting me.
  24. If Cain shall be avenged sevenfold
    1. Then Lamech seventy-sevenfold.
  25. And Adam knew his wife again,
    1. she bore a son and named him Seth
    2. instead of Abel, who Cain killed
  26. And as for Seth, to him also a son was born
    1. he named him Enosh.
    2. Then men began to call on the name of the Lord.
